QUESTION :
"Some women, may Allah guide them, dress their little girls in short clothes that expose their legs...And when we advise these mothers they answer us:
"We dressed like this when we were little & it didn't hurt us when we grew up"
What is your opinion on this?"
Response from Shaykh Ibn Al-'Uthaymin رحمه الله said:
"I am of the opinion that a person should not dress his daughter in such clothes when she is young because if she gets used to it, she will stick to it & take it as something normal when she grows up, whereas if she gets used to modesty from a young age, she will stick to it when she grows up.
And what I advise our Muslim sisters with:
"Let them abandon the clothes of foreigners among the enemies of Islam and let them accustom their daughters to modest clothes, for modesty is part of faith."
