مكتبة الصالحات , a sublime and… unexpected story.
During my trip to Morocco in January 2024, I went to the library closest to where I was staying, in Marrakech .
Fulfilled I was, a lot of books from lots of editions, authors, shouyoukh… in short, eyes that light up for a sister who is passionate about reading.
And then, I went to the “women” side (of what they can call category..), and it was… TINY .
Not much choice except 2 books that I took, and it was when paying that this surprised me: why a large category of books evoking Tafsir & from different authors, huge categories on fiqh (which in itself is normal), but why a very small category concerning women ?
It was neither a comparison nor an emotion that got in the way of this reflection, but having done a lot of libraries: it's a bit recurring.
Although, however, books for women (whether in Arabic or French) are very, very numerous, we can find subjects mentioned for women that we would not even have thought of!
When paying for my books, then, I said to myself: why not create a bookstore that would list as many books for/dedicated to women as possible?
This idea was literally a revolution , for me who was trying to bring so much to my community.
That's when we asked the bookseller the next day where we could buy in bulk, he told us that Marrakech is not the destination: we have to go to Casablanca.
Casablanca is 2 hours from Marrakech, we don't have a lot of money left & not enough for the last days, we decide to go there anyway the next day despite the financial deficit.
It was then that we found nuggets there, which we decided to take despite everything; this is where we understand that the adventure will be tough but extremely rewarding.
In short, the idea was conceived on January 14, 204 & the site officially opened on January 31, 2024.
